What is the Region?

Situated in the picturesque south-west corner of Australia, the South West region is known for its extensive natural beauty. The region covers an area of 23,970 square kilometres and has a typically Mediterranean climate with pleasant summer months and winter rainfall.

Currently more than 178,000 people are residents of the South West of Western Australia.

Fertile soils, high rainfall and proximity to Perth are leading factors in the South West region's diverse range of agricultural pursuits. The region has over thousands of agricultural enterprises, covering an area of approximately 864,000 hectares.

The South West region includes the local government authorities of: Augusta-Margaret River, Boyup Brook, Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Bunbury (City), Busselton (City), Capel, Collie, Dardanup, Donnybrook-Balingup, Harvey, Manjimup and Nannup.

Candidates

Are you an unskilled worker, a skilled worker or a student?

Unskilled – You don’t possess any formal qualifications related to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries. You are qualified for employment in roles such as fruit/vegetable picker, deck hand, cleaner, farm hand/worker and more. It is strongly encouraged you complete some training in Occupational Health and Safety in order to prepare for work in a manual environment.

Skilled – You possess formal qualifications related to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries such as a forklift ticket, a truck license, experience driving agricultural machinery or a certificate/degree in a related field. You are qualified for employment in roles such as machinery operator, truck driver, stockperson, farm hand/worker and more.

Students – You are currently studying or just finished your degree. You might be a skilled or an unskilled worker when it comes to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries, but sign up as a student regardless!
